  3. The Executioners (Killer Kowalski and John Studd) were stripped of the titles on October 26, 1976 for using a 3rd member (Nikolai Volkoff) in a match against Chief Jay Strongbow and Billy White Wolf in Hamburg, Pennsylvania.

  4. Chief Jay Strongbow and Billy White Wolf defeated the Exectioners and Nikolai Volkoff and Tor Kamata in a 3-man tournament to win the titles. The titles were then vacated in ugust of 1977 when Billy White Wolf was injured by Ken Patera.

  5. Toru Tanaka and Mr. Fuji defeated Tony Garea and Larry Zbyszko for the titles.

  6. The tag team titles were renamed the WWE Tag Team titles in 1979.

  7. Bob Backlund had to give up the title on August 10, 1980 because he was the current WWE Champion and was not allowed to hold two titles at once.

  8. The Samoans (Afa and Sika) defeated Tony Garea and Rene Goulet for the titles.

  9. Moondog King was unable to enter the United States from Canada.

  10. Samoan Sika was injured on March 12, 1983 during a 10-man tag team match in Baltimore, Maryland and is temporarily replaced by Samoan #3 (Sam Anoia).

  11. The Samoans continue to defend the titles until the title changed was aired on December 9, 1983.

  13. The Hart Foundation defeated Smash and Crush for the titles in a best 2 out of 3 falls match. The Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) won the belts on Ocotober 30, 1990 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but the title change was not acknowledged on television. WWE President, Jack Tunney, reversed the decision because one of the ropes came off from the turnbuckle during the match.

  14. The titles were vacated in November of 1994 when Shawn Michaels and Diesel split up, and Diesel won the WWE World title.

  15. 1-2-3 Kid and Bob Holly defeated Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka in a tournament final.

  16. Shawn Michaels and Diesel defeated Yokozuna and Davey Boy Smith, who was replacing Owen Hart.

  17. WWE President, Gorilla Monsoon, forced Shawn Michaels and Diesel to forfeit the titles back to Owen Hart and Yokozuna due to the fact Shawn Michaels was the current Intercontinental Champion and Diesel was the WWE World Champion.

  18. The titles were vacated on February 15, 1996 when Billy Gunn underwent neck surgery.

  19. The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip) defeated The Godwinns (Phinneas and Henry) in a tournament final.

  20. The titles were vacated in June of 1997.

  21. Steve Austin and Dude Love defeated Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith for the titles. The titles were vacated when Austin forfeited the title on September 7, 1997 due to a neck injury.

  22. The Headbangers (Mosh and Thrasher) defeated The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal), The Godwinns (Henry and Phinneas), and Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith in a Four-Way Dance.

  23. Kane and Mankind defeated Steve Austin and the Undertaker, Rocky Maivia and Owen Hart, and The New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn and Jesse James) in a Four Corners Match.

  24. The New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn and Jesse James) defeated Mankind in a No Disqualification, Falls Count Anywhere, Handicap match.

  25. The Acolytes (Bradshaw and Faarooq) defeated the Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff) and Michael Hayes in a handicap match.

  26. Rocky Maivia and Mankind defeated Mideon and Viscera in a "Dakside Rules" match in which any of Undertaker's follwers can participate to defend the titles.

  27. Edge and Christian defeated The Dudley Boyz (D-Von and Bubba Ray) and The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt) in a tables and ladders match to win the tag team titles.

  28. Edge and Christian defeated Too Cool, T&A, and The Hardy Boyz to win the tag team titles in a "Fatal Four Way" match.

  29. Titles were awarded back to the Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff) by Mick Foley.

  30. Edge and Christian defeated defeated The Dudley Boyz (D-Von and Buh-Buh Ray), Bull Buchanan and The Goodfather, and Road Dogg and K-Kwick to win the tag team titles.

  31. Edge and Christian defeated defeated The Dudley Boyz (D-Von and Bubba Ray), and The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt) in a "Tables, Ladders, and Chairs II" match to win the titles.

  32. Steve Austin and Triple H defeated Kane and The Undertaker in a match where all four WWE titles were on the line. Steve Austin's WWE World Title and Triple H's Intercontinental Title were on the line in this match.

  33. This was a unification steel cage match for the WWE and WCW World Tag Team Titles.

  35. Defeated Chris Jericho and Christian, Lance Storm and William Regal, and The Dudley Boyz in a "Fatal Four Way" match.

  36. Lance Storm and William Regal were stripped of the titles on March 24, 2003 when Regal could not compete. Morley and Storm were awarded the titles.

  37. Kane and Rob Van Dam defeated Sean Morley and Lance Storm and The Dudley Boyz in a three-way elimination match to win the tag team titles.

  38. Ric Flair and Batista won a "Tag Team Turmoil" match to win the tag team titles when Batista pinned D-Von Dudley. Other participants were: La Resistance (Rob Conway and Renee Dupree), Hurricane Helms and Rosey, Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak, Scott Steiner and Test, Lance Storm and Val Venis, and The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von).

  39. Chris Benoit and Edge were the last two wrestlers in the voting for a match against Triple H for the World Heavyweight Title on WWE's "Taboo Tuesday" interactive PPV.

  40. Eugene Dinsmore and William Regal defeated La Resistance (Rob Conway and Sylvian Grenier) and Rhyno and Yoshihiro Tajiri in a Three-Way Elimination Match to win the tag team titles.

  41. La Resistance (Rob Conway and Sylvian Grenier) defeated William Regal and Jonathan Coachman, subsituting for an injured Eugene Dinsmore, for the tag team titles.

  42. This was a Tag Team Turmoil match also featuring Champions, William Regal and Tajiri, La Resistance (Rob Conway and Sylvan Grenier), Simon Dean and Maven, and the Heart Throbs (Romeo and Antonio).

  43. This was a double tag team battle royal match signed by Vince McMahon to vent his rage for losing his hair at WrestleMania 23. Shawn Michaels and John Cena retained their titles in the first part of the battle royal which came down to King Booker and Finlay. During the second match, Shawn Michaels made his future intentions known towards John Cena when he threw him out from behind and cost themselves the tag titles. The last two teams in the ring would become the new tag champions and those men were The Hardys and Murdoch and Cade.
