Long announced the title vacant, and that the next United States Champion would be decided after a Best of Seven Series between both Booker T and Chris Benoit.
Booker T was injured during the Best of Seven Series, and was forced to chose a replacement to compete on his behalf. Randy Orton replaced Booker T in the final three matches of the series, winning the United States Title for Booker T. The final score in the series was 4-3.
